Support Manzanita House's Unaccompanied Minor Program

Children should never have to represent themselves in court.

Due to this year's federal funding cuts, Manzanita House, Spokane County’s largest non-profit providing immigrant legal aid, lost more than $152,000 in critical funding to support our unaccompanied minor clients.

Many unaccompanied minors are children fleeing violence, trafficking, and other atrocities to seek asylum, and a pathway to citizenship, in the United States. Because immigrants are not provided representation in court, having access to an attorney requires being able to afford to hire one. As a result, many children are forced to navigate the immigration system on their own.

Manzanita House is committed to providing completely pro-bono immigration legal aid support to unaccompanied immigrant children, including our current 16 clients – the youngest of whom is 11 years old.

We're also committed to expanding our capacity to serve immigrant youth as well as support our clients through the completion of their cases - however long that may take.

$5,500 covers the cost of one unaccompanied minor case from start to finish. Help us raise $88k by October to cover the cost of our 16 unaccompanied minor cases – seeing them through until they’re able to experience life without fear.
